Breech and Posterior BabiesAt 33-36 weeks we offer treatment with acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, which follows research that demonstrates a significant effect in turning breech babies. Treatments can also help babies that are not in the optimal position, such as those in a posterior position. In my Turning Breech initial intake and treatment you will receive an acupuncture treatment and learn to administer moxabustion (warm mugwort) in a 10 day protocol that will be follow at home, and done by yourself or your partner, take home moxa sticks and instructions included.

Postpartum Care Two weeks after giving birth, we recommend a few treatments to help the mother fully recover. Acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal medicine can help the body regain strength and can greatly help with concerns like insufficient lactation, postnatal depression, and urinary incontinence.
Other pregnancy concerns:Anxiety, heartburn, edema, headaches, hemorrhoids, vulvar varicosites, sinus problems, tiredness, exhaustion, and insomnia.

Acupuncture can provide a gentle inducement to labor if the baby is overdue and can be an effective alternative in medical induction at the hospital. This is offered to all women and birthing people who wish to use this method to facilitate a natural birth. We have found, however, that women who follow a Pre-Birth Treatment plan are much less likely to be overdue to begin with, in which case acupuncture can still be used effectively.
We strongly encourage all women to have pre-birth acupuncture and be proactive and educated in their pregnancy and childbirth choices. Be sure to ask your support team about this option as we can help avoid that dreaded conversation about hospital induction. Labor preparation acupuncture consists of a set of weekly acupuncture sessions beginning around 36-37 weeks that continue until the onset of labor. During these treatments, special acupuncture points are selected for your constitution and your pregnancy history is taken into consideration to effectively prepare you for a harmonious and positive birthing experience.
By balancing hormones, calming the sympathetic nervous system and improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, acupuncture can help ripen the cervix, calm the mind, and strengthen your energy for a smooth labor and birth.

Tara Bianca Rado L.Ac, MSOM Tara received her Master's in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Acupunture and Oriental Medicine College in Berkeley, California. During her clinical training she studied extensively under Chinese trained ObGyn and internal medicine specialist Dr. Hua Ling Shu and went on to intern with the S.F Homeless prenatal project, performing community acupuncture for homless or marginally housed pregnant women and their families in both Spanish and English. She also interned at UCSF Benioff Children's hospital working with nurses, doctors and staff and upon graduating worked at the mixed community and private clinic, Tiny Needles in San Francisco where she would treat up to 100 people a week. She moved to Durham in 2018 and opened her private practice Tara Bianca Rado Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine.
