Rebecca Foster is a North Carolina native and she grew up playing for hours among the tulip poplars, eastern red cedars and wild gingers growing in the forest and creeks near her childhood home here in the Piedmont. Her childhood was rich with nature immersion and she went on to explore the wilderness of the American west once she was free to roam. The wisdom of nature and its many gifts informs her work in every way. She obtained her certification as a Wise Woman Herbalist when she was just 21, studying with renowned herbalists such as Rosemary Gladstar, Susan Weed and Michael Tierra. She has always maintained that the herbs are her true teachers and she has continued to study plants and their medicines for over twenty years. She is now a community herbalist and has a home-based apothecary. Rebecca’s call to be a healer is strong and she continued on in her studies, attending Heartwood Massage Institute in California where she gained certification in swedish massage , deep tissue massage, shiatsu and polarity therapy. She has since continued her practice specializing in shiatsu and polarity therapy, integrating the two as she works with the energetic anatomy of the body. Rebecca’s practice is focused on women’s health and wellness, particularly centering on fertility, prenatal and postnatal care. Rebecca studied midwifery for 5 years with Jeanninne Parvati Baker and also with Whapio Bartlett, and she is a certified holistic doula. She teaches childbirth classes and has attended many births. She also has had the blessing of enjoying her own ecstatic birth and has an innate trust in the birthing process. She brings her knowledge and experience as a mother and also as a doula into her herbal consultations and into her bodywork. She is especially gifted at helping prenatal, pregnant and nursing mothers as they welcome their children Earthside. Rebecca offers herbal consultations and bodywork sessions together or as separate sessions.
